Exam Success in 2019

Sherfield School is the school of choice for A Level study with significant improvements in A Level results.

Pupils at Sherfield are celebrating significantly improved grades this year with some of the highest sixth form results ever. Initial figures show that 36% of grades were an A* or A with an impressive 11% increase on last year of the very highest A* grade being awarded. Best of all, 100% of pupils passed 3 or more A Levels, demonstrating once again that Sherfield is the place for serious Post 16 study.

Our A Level progress score is 0.5 which means our pupils achieved grades 0.5 higher than they were expected to.For progress at A Level, Sherfield are 48th out of over 6000 schools and 31st out of over 700 independent schools. This progress score is higher than 127 schools and colleges within a 20 mile radius including Wellington College, The Abbey School, St Jospeh's College, Salesian College, Reddam House, Pangbourne College, Luckley House, Lord Wandsworth, Frensham Heights, Farnborough Hill, Bradfield College, Alton College, The Sixth Form College Farnborough and Queen Mary's College.

20% of pupils achieved AAB or higher in at least two facilitating subjects (subjects that are commonly needed for entry to leading universities). This percentage is higher than Salesian College, The Sixth Form College Farnborough, Pangbourne College, Bradfield College, Frensham Heights, Leighton Park School, Shiplake College and Queen Mary's College.

Ms Seamark, Head of Sixth Form is thrilled with the results after her first year in charge of the Sixth Form. "I am delighted with the excellent results achieved by our students, which are testimony to their hard work and dedication, as well as the exceptional support given by their teachers. It has been such a pleasure to support all of the Year 13 students through their final year of A-Level study and see so many gain places at the top universities in the country."

“We are absolutely thrilled with the A-level results this year.  As a school, we are proud of the individual and collective achievements of all our students and wish them every success in their future endeavours.”  Nick Brain, Headmaster

Sherfield pupils also celebrated outstanding achievements in their GCSEs, proving once again that our young people make significantly better progress than the national picture.

Our pupils have worked extremely hard to achieve impressive results with initial figures showing that 42% of grades were 9 to 7 with an impressive 93% pass rate including Maths and English. We are particularly pleased with the significant increase in pupils that have chosen Sherfield as their first choice for A-level study and we will be welcoming back more than double the number of Year 11 pupils compared with previous years, demonstrating once again that Sherfield is the place for serious Post 16 study.

“Thank you to all your wonderful teachers for all of the time and effort that you put into all of the students.  You have a very happy/proud student and set of parents.  We are so delighted that our son has been 'raised' in Sherfield since age 2, what an amazing investment it has been in his development and education.  We're looking forward to having him continue in sixth form.  Many thanks for everything!”  Parent of Year 11 student

Mr Brain, Headmaster said “Once again we are absolutely thrilled with the superb results achieved by our students, the culmination of all the hard work, commitment and dedication to their studies.  Although education should not always be about results and we should be mindful of the social and emotional benefits of attending Sherfield, it is naturally very pleasing to share in the fantastic success of our wonderful students.”
